Large Hammer Crusher Station

Large Hammer Crusher Station

A large jaw crusher station usually refers to the coarse crushing unit centered around a large jaw crusher: consisting of a heavy-duty receiving hopper/vibrating feeder + a large jaw crusher main unit + an output belt conveyor + a steel structure base/module support. It can be a single main unit + its supporting equipment in a fixed coarse crushing plant, or it can be a semi-mobile/interchangeable modular coarse crushing station.

Working principle

The working principle of the jaw crusher is quite "primitive yet reliable": The moving jaw swings periodically relative to the fixed jaw, forming a cycle of "wide opening → narrow closing → reopening", and the material is squeezed, split, and bent between the two jaw plates (fixed jaw plate / moving jaw plate) until it is crushed to a size smaller than the discharge opening, and then discharged from the bottom.
In the context of a "large-scale crushing station", its operation mode is more like a continuous production line:
Feed: Dump trucks / loaders unload the blasted raw ore into a heavy-duty receiving bin or a bar-and-strip vibrating feeder; the feeder evenly distributes the material, and at the front end, a screen / bar strips are used to divert the soil and fine materials that do not need to enter the main machine and are sent down separately (bypass) to avoid sending "soil" into the jaw crusher and causing unnecessary wear and blockage.
Crushing: Large chunks enter the crushing chamber of the jaw crusher. Each time the moving jaw "closes", it compresses the material one notch smaller. The crushed material is discharged from the discharge opening under the force of gravity and reciprocating movement.
Discharge and Connection: Usually, a heavy-duty discharge belt conveyor is placed below the jaw crusher to transport the crushed material to the intermediate storage pile or the next stage of secondary crushing (cone crusher / impact crusher, etc.); some stations will have a separate channel for soil / fine materials to avoid soil entering the closed system.
Operating Rhythm: The jaw crusher is a mechanical device that "continuously feeds and intermittently crushes" - it seems like intermittent compression, but when the feeding is uniform and the material is evenly supplied, it generally shows stable and continuous discharge; if the feeding is uneven or large chunks are concentratedly impacted, it will result in "current surges, cavity overfilling and machine stalling, and wear of the wear plates on the sides".

Why is it called "Standing"? - The three common forms

A. Fixed large jaw crusher primary crushing station (indoors/overhead walkway)
The most common "standard answer": The jaw crusher is installed on a concrete foundation + steel structure platform, with surrounding feed bins, feeders, platform walkways, and maintenance lifting points (manual hoists / single-girder cranes), forming a "primary crushing station". The advantages are stability, long lifespan, and sufficient maintenance space; the disadvantages are difficult relocation.
B. Modular/semi-mobile large jaw crusher station (disassemblable, can be slid/tilted in place)
Thinking like "A" in terms of container size: steel frame modules, bolted connections, disassemblable transportation, quick assembly on site; or assemble the jaw crusher unit on heavy sliding shoes / rails, and use hydraulic steps to slowly move (not running at high speed with tires, but following the "terrain of the quarry" on the quarry steps). Suitable for projects in mines / quarries that need to be relocated periodically but do not want to rebuild the foundation each time.
C. Tire/track mobile jaw crusher station (add "large" to wheels/track)
When "large jaw crusher" is installed on a multi-axle tire semi-trailer chassis or track hydraulic chassis, it becomes a mobile jaw crusher station. But note:
When the "large" is taken to a certain extent, the overall weight, transportation width and height limits, and leg ground pressure will force you to return to the "fixed/semi-mobile modularization" thinking.
Therefore, in marketing language, "large jaw crusher station" often defaults to being more inclined towards A or B (fixed / modular primary crushing), while "mobile jaw crusher station" is more inclined towards "medium-sized / transferable primary crushing module".
