Description

Large industrial pumps refer to the series of industrial centrifugal pumps with a flow rate of ≥ 1000 m³/h or a head of ≥ 100 m. They are the "heart equipment" of national infrastructure such as municipal water supply, power, petrochemicals, metallurgy, mining, and water conservancy. According to their hydraulic characteristics, this product series can be divided into four categories:
Single-stage double-suction pump (single-stage double-suction horizontal double-suction pump): Flow rate 112–36000 m³/h, head 8.5–280 m, maximum efficiency up to 92%. The double-suction structure balances the axial force. The horizontal double-suction pump can be inspected without disassembling the pipeline, and it is the absolute mainstay for municipal water supply, power plant circulating water, and large-scale irrigation.
Multi-stage centrifugal pumps (including BB3 horizontal double-suction multi-stage pumps and BB5 radial split pumps): Flow rate 20 - 6200 cubic meters per hour, head 60 - 2000 meters (up to 4800 meters for BB5), in accordance with API 610 standards, used for boiler feed water, oilfield water injection, descaling, hydrogen gas transportation, etc. in high-head scenarios.
Vertical long shaft pump: Flow rate 40 - 42,000 cubic meters per hour, Head 5 - 380 meters. Suitable for deep well/underwater operations. Used for mine drainage, power plant circulating water, municipal rainwater pumping stations, flood control and drainage.
Axial flow/mixed flow pumps: Axial flow pumps have a flow rate of 600 - 34,000 cubic meters per hour and a head of 0.8 - 26 meters; mixed flow pumps have a flow rate of 900 - 32,000 cubic meters per hour and a head of 3 - 32.5 meters. They are suitable for river drainage, water conservancy projects, and large-scale farmland irrigation in scenarios with low head and large flow.

Full coverage of flow and head. The maximum flow of a pump is 42,000 m³/h (long shaft pump) and the maximum head is 4,800 m (BB5 multi-stage pump). One or two pumps, in a pumping station can replace small and medium-sized pumps connected in parallel simplifying the pipeline and saving land.

High. Energy saving, efficiency ≥ 90%. The efficiency of a double-suction pump can reach 92% and the efficiency of multi-stage pumps is 80%+. Based on the CFD three-element flow optimization of the model it saves 3-8% electricity compared to the old PN/SH series. Large pumps can save tens of thousands of kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

Horizontal split, no need to dismantle pipes for maintenance. The split double-suction pump can remove the cover to replace the rotor and the inlet and outlet pipelines do not need to be moved; the upper pump cover of the BB3 multi-stage pump can be safely removed for inspection of the rotor and the downtime of the pumping station is shortened by 60%.

Application scenario

 

Municipal water supply and water conservancy
In the water treatment plant, the pumping station uses open double-suction pumps as the main equipment. The flow rate of a single pump can range from several thousand to tens of thousands of cubic meters per hour (m³/h). For example, the 1400S series can reach 23,292 m³/h.
For urban water supply network pressurization and cross-regional water transfer, including the supporting projects of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, medium-suction double-suction pumps and multi-stage pumps are usually used in series.
For flood control and drainage as well as rainwater pumping stations, vertical long-shaft pumps, mixed-flow pumps or axial-flow pumps can be adopted, which are particularly suitable for situations with low head and extremely large flow rates.
In agricultural water conservancy and large-scale irrigation projects, the split-suction double-suction pumps and mixed-flow pumps are commonly chosen.
Electricity industry
In thermal power plants, the circulating cooling water pumps usually adopt mid-split double-suction pumps, and the single-unit flow rate can range from 5000 to 20000 m³/h.
The boiler feed pump uses BB3 or BB5 multi-stage pumps, and its head can reach over 1,000 to 2,000 meters.
At nuclear power plants, auxiliary feed pumps and high-pressure water injection pumps for hydraulic coal mining play significant roles.
