The stainless steel impeller of the submersible pump is the core rotating component of the submersible pump. The submersible pump itself is a vertical, single suction, multi-stage centrifugal pump that works underwater. It achieves high head by connecting multiple impellers in series. Different from the logic of the slurry pump impeller and the dredging pump impeller, which mainly focus on "anti-corrosion", the core mission of the stainless steel impeller of the submersible pump is anti-corrosion + anti-slight wear + hygiene and safety - the medium is clean water, groundwater, well water, seawater, and slightly corrosive chemical liquids. Therefore, the material of the impeller has been switched from cast iron/high chromium to 304/316/316L/904L/dual phase steel/titanium.
This product is divided into two types based on manufacturing process:
Precision cast impeller: It is made using lost wax casting or resin sand casting techniques. The material can be 304/316/316L/904L/CD4MCu/dual-phase steel/titanium, with single-piece weights ranging from a few grams to 10 tons. It is suitable for large and medium-sized submersible electric pumps such as SP series, WQS series, and SFQ series.
Pressing and welding impeller: It is formed by pressing with AISI 304 stainless steel plates through advanced molds and laser welding. It is suitable for radial/mixed-flow impellers of 4SP/6SP/8SP/10SP series deep well pumps. It has low cost, good consistency, and is hygienic.

Radial-flow impeller vs Mixed-flow impeller:
Radial-flow impeller: The liquid flows radially out of the impeller, with high head and moderate flow rate, suitable for deep well high-head scenarios (V4 series, with a head of up to 350m)
Mixed-flow impeller: The liquid flows axially + radially in a combined direction, with large flow rate and moderate head, suitable for large-flow irrigation (V6/V8 series)
Closed impeller vs Semi-open impeller:
Closed impeller: The front and rear covers are sealed, with high efficiency, suitable for clean water deep well pumps (4SP/6SP/8SP/10SP, SP series)

Q: What are the differences between the stainless steel impeller of a submersible pump and that of a slurry pump?
A: Both are centrifugal pump impellers, but the materials are completely opposite: the impeller of the slurry pump is made of high-chromium white iron (A05, HRC ≥ 56), combining "hardness" to resist the abrasive nature of the mineral slurry; the stainless steel impeller of the submersible pump is made of austenitic stainless steel such as SS304/SS316, combining "corrosion resistance + hygiene and safety" to resist corrosive clean water/seawater/chemical liquids. In simple terms: for abrasive conditions, choose the impeller of the slurry pump; for corrosive conditions, choose the stainless steel impeller of the submersible pump.
Q: Why is the impeller of a deep well submersible pump multi-stage?
A: Deep well pumps require high head (up to 620m), a single-stage impeller cannot provide such a high head. Therefore, a multi-stage impeller is used in series - each stage impeller provides a fixed head, and the cumulative number of stages gives the total head. The number of stages of the 4" deep well pump can reach 20-60, and each stage impeller must be precisely dynamic balanced.
