Among dredgers, sand pumps, and dredging pumping stations, the Dredging Pump Impeller is the core working component that directly "consumes wear". When the medium contains sharp particles such as quartz sand, river sand, gravel, and shells, the monthly average wear of the ordinary cast iron impeller can reach 2–3 mm. The high manganese steel impeller, under weak impact conditions, has insufficient work hardening effect and poor wear resistance. The Dredging Pump Impeller is made of high chromium white cast iron (KmTBCr26 / KmTBCr28), with a chromium content of 23–30%. M₇C₃ type carbides are precipitated in the matrix - this is one of the hardest phases in nature, with a microhardness of HV 1300–1800, which can effectively resist the cutting and erosion of solid particles. Combined with quenching + reheat treatment, the overall hardness is stable at HRC 58–63, balancing high wear resistance and impact toughness. In a dredging project at the mouth of the Yangtze River, it was measured that the lifespan of the traditional high manganese steel impeller was only 600 hours, while the Cr28 precision cast Dredging Pump Impeller had a lifespan of over 8,000 hours, an increase of more than 13 times.
