The large drum-type sand screening machine is a sand and gravel classification equipment with a rotating drum as its core screening component. It is mainly used to precisely classify raw materials such as river sand, machine-made sand, mountain sand, and sea sand according to particle size, removing large boulders, shells, and soil clumps and other impurities, and producing finished sand that meets the standards for construction use. It is driven by a central shaft (with shaft structure), and the drum is connected to the cylinder through the spokes or flanges on the central shaft. It is driven to rotate by the motor + reducer through chains or gears. The screen is made of manganese steel woven mesh or perforated plates, with a hole diameter of 3 to 20 mm that can be customized. An outer dust cover and dust collection interface can be added.

Work mode
The large drum-type sand screening machine is driven by a central shaft. Its working principle is "rotation + rolling + screening":
Feed: The raw materials are sent into the drum from one end through a belt conveyor or chute. A guide plate is installed at the inlet to ensure the uniform distribution of the materials along the drum wall and to reduce the impact.
Rotation and Rolling: The motor drives the central shaft through a reducer to rotate. The central shaft drives the drum to rotate at a speed of 8 to 20 r/min. The drum axis is inclined at 3° to 6° to the horizontal plane. Under the action of friction, centrifugal force and gravity, the materials roll forward along the spiral trajectory on the drum wall towards the outlet.
Screening and Classification: During the rolling process, the fine sand smaller than the sieve holes passes through the sieve screen and falls into the collecting hopper or belt conveyor below; the coarse materials such as pebbles, shells, and soil clumps with larger diameters continue to move forward and eventually exit from the other end of the drum. Different sieve sections with different diameters can achieve multi-level classification (for example, 5 mm at the front end and 10 mm at the rear end, which can separate three particle sizes: fine sand, medium sand, and pea stone).
Cleaning and Anti-clogging: To prevent wet sand from blocking the screen, rotating steel wire brushes or rubber beaters are installed on the outer side of the drum to continuously clean the screen surface; or a high-pressure water spray pipe can be set inside the drum to rinse while screening, which is especially suitable for river sand with high clay content.
Discharge: The materials at each level are sent to the next process or storage area by the discharge belt conveyor or chute. The finished sand is sent into the sand bin through the belt conveyor or directly loaded onto a truck.
Products features
Smooth operation, low noise: The drum rotates at a low speed without vibration or shock. The overall noise of the machine is ≤ 75 dB(A), much quieter than vibrating screens, making it suitable for production lines near residential areas.
Sealed design for environmental compliance: The drum shell can be equipped with a sealing cover and connected to a dust collection pipeline. Dust does not spill out, meeting environmental discharge standards. The discharge port can be equipped with a buffer chute to reduce dust.
Flexible customization: The mesh aperture, drum length, rotation speed, and inclination angle can all be customized according to the characteristics of the raw materials and production output; it can also be made mobile (mounted on a tire chassis), convenient for relocation.
High durability: The drum body is made of Q345B steel plate rolled, and the inner wall is welded with wear-resistant liners; the mesh is made of high manganese steel (Mn13) or spring steel, with a long service life.
Application scenario
River sand mining and grading: The river sand extracted from the river contains impurities such as pebbles and shells. A large drum-type sand screening machine can grade it into construction sand and pebbles, increasing its value.
Mechanical sand production line: The mechanical sand produced by the crusher often has an unreasonable gradation. It needs to undergo secondary screening with a drum-type sieve to remove overly coarse and overly fine particles, obtaining qualified finished sand.
Sand and stone separation at concrete mixing stations: The sand and stone raw materials purchased by the mixing station often contain particles with excessive particle sizes. The drum sieve can perform pre-treatment to ensure the quality of concrete.
Raw material screening for dry-mixed mortar stations: Dry-mixed mortar has strict requirements for the fineness modulus of sand. The drum sieve can precisely grade out sands of different particle sizes (coarse sand, medium sand, fine sand).
Sea sand desalination support: After sea sand is desalinated, it needs to be screened to remove shell fragments and large particles. The drum sieve can complete the screening and desalination simultaneously.
Hydropower station/nuclear power station sand and stone system: The aggregates (sand and crushed stones) required for large-scale water conservancy projects need to undergo large-scale screening. The drum sieve has a large processing capacity and high reliability and is the core equipment of the sand and stone system.
