Slurry Feed Pump

Slurry Feed Pump

Lurry Feed Pump (slurry feed pump / filter press feed pump) is a wear-resistant slurry pump specially designed for feeding to filter presses, filtration machines, and cyclones. It offers two series: the ZJW special type and the AH/R high-flow type. The flow rate ranges from 360 to 828 m³/h, and the head ranges from 10 to 61 m. With a particle size of up to 63 mm, the flow passage components use A05 high-chrome alloy (HRC ≥ 56) or rubber lining. It is suitable for processes such as mining, coal washing, power plant desulfurization, tailings dry discharge, and sludge dewatering. The flow-head curve is gentle, and there is no leakage secondary impeller seal throughout the full head range. It supports variable frequency drive and is 100% interchangeable with the AH/ZJ series.

Description

The Slurry Feed Pump is a specialized category within the slurry pump family, dedicated to the "feeding" process. Its core function is to steadily and controllably convey slurry containing solid particles to the feed inlet of the filter press, ensuring sufficient pressure and flow during the filtration process.

This product offers two main models:
ZJW type filter press dedicated pump: Derived from the ZJ slurry pump, it features an enlarged outlet width of the impeller, an optimized hydraulic model, and is equipped with an auxiliary impeller seal (expeller seal) to achieve full-range leakage-free operation without the need for shaft seal water. The flow-head curve is smooth, and a single pump can match the full curve operation of the filter press, which is "low pressure high flow → high pressure low flow". The flow components use A05 high-chrome alloy (HRC ≥ 56) or rubber lining, being wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant, and are the industry standard configuration for filter press feed.
AH/R high-flow type (represented by Tobee 8/6 R-AH): Horizontal, single-shell, wide-channel design, with 8"×6" inlet and outlet, flow rate 360-828 m³/h, head 10-61 m, speed 500-1140 rpm, efficiency 72%, maximum power 300 kW. It can pass through particles with a diameter of 63 mm. The flow components' materials include A05/A07/A33/A49/A51/A61 high-chrome alloy and R08/R26/R55 rubber, U01/U38 polyurethane, ceramics, etc., suitable for large-flow slurry feeding and wide particle size distribution media.

High-chromium alloy
All the flow-through components are made of high-magnesium alloy, featuring long service life and dynamic balance technology to ensure stable operation. They can handle large particles and high-concentration media.
The pressure reduction design has a long service life.
The auxiliary impeller and the auxiliary material box are made of high-chromium alloy.
The negative pressure at the center of the auxiliary impeller is well sealed, and the shaft seal pressure is increased, thereby improving the hydraulic efficiency.
The support bracket is enlarged.
The thickened and lengthened precision cast large support bracket is more stable and reliable. It is equipped with two bearings and is both finely crafted and practical.

Core advantage

Double pump housing replaceable liner: The outer layer is QT500-7 ductile iron or cast steel for pressure-bearing (with a pressure-bearing capacity exceeding 1.6 MPa), and the inner layer is high-chromium alloy Cr26 (HRC58-62) or wear-resistant rubber replaceable liner, reducing maintenance costs by over 60%.
High-chromium alloy flow components: The impeller, volute, and front and rear guard plates are made of KmTBCr26 high-chromium white cast iron, with a chromium content of 26%–30%, and a Rockwell hardness of HRC58-62, which enhances wear resistance by 3-5 times compared to ordinary materials; in a copper mine in Jiangxi, after 150ZJ pump operated continuously for 8,000 hours, the wear of the impeller was only 2.3 mm.
Secondary impeller seal (standard): Utilizing the centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the secondary impeller to form reverse pressure sealing, without the need for external flushing water, without diluting the ore slurry, and capable of dry operation; it is the most commonly used shaft seal form for slurry feed pumps.
Optional modular mechanical seal: For media with fine particles, high viscosity, or strict environmental protection requirements, a modular mechanical seal + high-pressure flushing water system can be selected, with a leakage rate of ≤ 5 ml/h.
Variable condition adaptive: The performance curve of the pump has a wide range of flow-head coverage in the efficient zone, and in combination with the frequency converter, it can achieve a smooth transition from high flow low pressure to low flow high pressure, meeting the requirements of the entire filter press circulation process.
Heavy-duty bearing support: Cylindrical or horizontal split-type heavy-duty bearing components, lubricated with thin oil or grease, with a water cooling device, suitable for long-term continuous operation.

Q: What are the differences between Slurry Feed Pump and ordinary slurry pumps?
A: Ordinary slurry pumps aim for stable transportation near the efficient point, with a steeper curve; while Slurry Feed Pump is optimized for variable conditions of the filter press, with an extremely gentle curve (when the pressure increases from 0.2 MPa to 1.2 MPa, the flow decays by less than 15%), and uses a secondary impeller seal to achieve zero leakage throughout the full range of operation, with a single pump covering the entire process of "low-pressure large-flow feeding → high-pressure small-flow holding pressure". Ordinary slurry pumps may encounter problems such as insufficient flow during the high-pressure stage, high filter cake moisture content, and seal leakage when used for filter press feeding.
Q: How to choose between ZJW and AH/R?
A: For filter press feeding → ZJW special type (with a gentle curve + zero leakage throughout the full range of operation, a single pump covers all working conditions); for large-flow and wide-grain-sized slurry feeding (such as tailings dry discharge, coarse particle feeding) → AH/R large-flow type (such as 8/6 R-AH, passing through a 63 mm particle size, with a 360-828 m³/h large flow). The two complement each other.
Q: Why is a secondary impeller seal necessary?
A: During filter press feeding, the pressure is always high (0.8-1.2 MPa), and the packing seal requires continuous flushing water, which will dilute the mineral slurry and lead to a decrease in concentrate grade and inability to recover coal slime; mechanical seals wear out quickly and have a short lifespan in slurry containing solid particles. The secondary impeller seal utilizes the reverse pressure generated by the pump delivery ring to counteract the pressure in the pump chamber, achieving zero leakage throughout the full range of operation and no need for shaft seal water. It is the standard for filter press feeding.
Q: What filter press is suitable for the 360-828 m³/h flow of 8/6 R-AH?
A: 8/6 R-AH flow 360-828 m³/h, head 10-61 m, is suitable for large filter presses (filtration area 200-800 m²) or large-flow feeding for tailings dry discharge. Medium-sized filter presses (50-200 m²) usually choose ZJW II series (flow 30-200 m³/h, head 40-120 m); small-sized filter presses (<50 m²) choose ZJW I series (flow 10-50 m³/h, head 20-80 m).
Q: Can it handle slurry containing gas?
A: Yes, but the gas content must be <5% (volume ratio). If the gas content is too high, it will cause pump cavitation and unstable flow. In high gas content conditions, it is recommended to install an air-liquid separator in front, or use a hydraulic screw pump (as previously mentioned, it has strong self-priming ability and can convey both air and liquid).
