Structural features

 

1. Horizontal split pump body - Lowest maintenance cost
The pump casing is divided into the upper cover and the lower body along the horizontal centerline. The suction port and discharge port are cast on the lower body. During maintenance, only the split face bolts need to be loosened, and the upper cover can be lifted. The entire rotor (impeller, shaft, bearing, seal) can be exposed for replacement or inspection without moving any pipeline. This is its biggest operational and maintenance advantage compared to the end suction pump.
2. Double suction impeller - Natural large flow capacity + Axial force self-balancing
The suction chambers on both sides of the impeller are symmetrically set, and the liquid enters from both sides simultaneously, with a flow capacity approximately 1.8 to 2.2 times that of a single-suction pump with the same diameter. At the same time, the liquid pressure on both sides is basically equal, and the axial thrust is almost completely cancelled out, resulting in extremely low bearing load. Therefore, the pump can be made more compact and run more smoothly.
3. Both ends bearing support + Rigid short shaft
The pump shaft is supported by independent bearing seats at both ends. The shaft extension is short and the rigidity is good. The rotor undergoes precise dynamic balance. Combined with the symmetrical force characteristics of the double-suction impeller, the vibration intensity of the entire machine is much lower than that of similar single-suction pumps, and the noise is also lower. It is particularly suitable for installation in residential areas or places sensitive to vibration.
4. Flexible sealing method
Packing seal: Standard configuration, simple structure, intuitive maintenance, introducing a small amount of clean water through a water seal ring can effectively cool and lubricate.
Mechanical seal: Upgrade option, very little leakage, longer lifespan, suitable for occasions with strict requirements for drip rate.

 

Work mode

 

The working process follows the typical principle of a centrifugal pump, but the "double suction" gives it unique advantages:
Preparation for startup: The pump chamber and suction pipeline must be filled with liquid (positive pressure filling is preferred), and all air must be drained to avoid dry running and cavitation.
Rotation of the impeller: The motor drives the pump shaft to rotate through the coupling. Liquid flows into the center of the impeller from the suction ports on both the left and right sides of the impeller simultaneously.
Energy conversion: Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid is rapidly thrown towards the outer edge of the impeller and enters the flow channel of the conical pump casing. The speed gradually converts into pressure energy, and finally is discharged from the discharge port.
Self-balancing of axial force: Due to the symmetrical water pressure on both sides, most of the axial thrust generated by the impeller is mutually cancelled out, and the residual axial force is very small, which is easily borne by the rolling bearings at both ends.
Operating mode: It is mainly used for continuous long-term operation (water plants, power plants, HVAC, etc.), and can also be used for intermittent alternate operation (drought relief, irrigation, fire-fighting backup). Startup methods can be configured as direct start, star-delta or variable frequency soft start.
