Material Description

 

The material selection for desulfurization pumps needs to comprehensively consider corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and economy. Main materials include:

Stainless Steel

304, 316, 316L, etc., with excellent corrosion resistance, suitable for conveying clean water and mildly corrosive media. 304 stainless steel is suitable for general clean water conveying, while 316L stainless steel is suitable for media containing chloride ions or weak acids. Stainless steel has a smooth surface, is not prone to scaling, and has a long service life.

Duplex Stainless Steel

Super duplex stainless steels such as 2605N possess excellent comprehensive corrosion and wear resistance, high strength, good toughness, and high hardness. They exhibit excellent wear and corrosion resistance, making them particularly suitable for conveying abrasive and corrosive slurries in the circulating pumps of FGD absorption towers.

High Chromium Alloy

Cr27, Cr30, etc., high chromium wear-resistant alloys, with a hardness reaching HRC58-62, excellent wear resistance, suitable for conveying media containing a large number of solid particles and abrasive media. Cr30A is a high-chromium, corrosion-resistant, and wear-resistant duplex alloy with excellent wear and corrosion resistance. If wear occurs after prolonged use, it can be reprocessed to extend its service life.

Non-metallic Materials

Engineering plastics such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and rust-free, suitable for conveying corrosive media or food-grade liquids. UHMW-PE has the highest wear resistance among plastics, exceeding that of nylon 66 and polytetrafluoroethylene by 4 times, and is 7-10 times more wear-resistant than carbon steel and stainless steel.

  • Wet Desulfurization Systems in Thermal Power Plants: Thermal power plants are one of the most widespread applications of desulfurization pumps. In wet desulfurization systems, the desulfurization pump is primarily responsible for mixing flue gas containing sulfur dioxide with a desulfurizing agent (such as limestone slurry) to form a desulfurization slurry. This slurry is then continuously circulated to the absorption tower by a circulating pump, ensuring full contact with the flue gas to complete the desulfurization reaction. During this process, the desulfurization pump must withstand high concentrations of highly corrosive limestone slurry and potential particulate abrasion.
  • Sintering Flue Gas Desulfurization in the Steel Industry: The sintering process in the steel industry generates a large amount of flue gas containing pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and dust. To meet environmental protection requirements, this flue gas needs to undergo desulfurization treatment. Under these operating conditions, desulfurization pumps not only need to handle high-concentration desulfurizing agent solutions but also need to cope with solid particulate matter entrained in the flue gas, which places higher demands on the pump's wear resistance.
